EMDR INTENSIVES IN CT

Traditional weekly therapy

isn’t the only option

Lately, you’ve been intending to get into weekly therapy, but your schedule has been so hectic and demanding that the idea of weekly therapy feels more overwhelming than supportive.

or

You’re needing help —and a lot of it— right now, and you’re looking for a starting point that will propel you into more effective weekly therapy down the road.

or

Perhaps…you’re feeling stuck or stagnant, waiting for the work you’ve put into therapy to finally pay off, but you’re not quite sure how to make a shift in yourself with your current therapist.

or

You cognitively understand what you've learned through videos, podcasts, books, and previous therapy; yet your body is still confused.

What are EMDR Intensives?

EMDR Intensives are prolonged sessions that include personalized treatment plans aiming to target your specific “stuck” points, limiting beliefs, and traumatic memories.

Sometimes, weekly therapy simply doesn’t fit into your schedule or you’re looking to supplement your current therapy with a more targeted approach. EMDR Intensives offer an alternative format to therapy that fits your needs. Develop a unique treatment plan and find the long-lasting relief you need while saving both time and money.

The Research

  • The economy is compelling: even compared to other trauma therapy, the intensive format may decrease treatment time, because of time not spent on a) checking in at the beginning of each session, b) addressing current crises and concerns, c) focusing on stabilizing and coping skills that the client won’t need after trauma healing or d) assisting the client in regaining composure at the end of the session.

Questions?

These are some common questions about EMDR Therapy. To learn more about working with me, head to my FAQs.

  • An EMDR intensive is highly focused work that can be done over the course of one day or several days. A single half day includes 3 hours of therapy which is the equivalent of three 60-minute sessions. In other words, a 3-day intensive schedule is the equivalent of just over two months of therapy!

Each intensive includes a customized workbook, a 90-minute pre-intensive interview, and a 60-minute post intensive interview. Pre- and post-intensive interviews are generally scheduled within a 3 day window of the intensive, though I work with you on what fits your schedule best.

    Half-Day Weekend: $2,400

  • I do not work with insurance, though I can provide a receipt of services (also known as a superbill) that you can submit to your insurance company for possible reimbursement. Reimbursement for EMDR Intensives varies and is not guaranteed. The total cost is expected to be paid in equal increments after the end of each session.

  • EMDR Intensives can be adjunctive to your current treatment. Adjunct therapy does not replace ongoing therapy; it is supplemental to the primary therapeutic relationship. With adjunct EMDR therapy, clients continue to receive treatment with their primary therapist. Usually, adjunct therapy is short-term (4-12  sessions) and desensitizes single incident trauma or phobias that are proving to be barriers to further progress in therapy. In fact, it’s encouraged that those who do EMDR Intensive programs have an established therapist to support them after.

  • EMDR Therapy sessions can range from 50-90 minutes. The overall length of treatment can vary based on a variety of factors. Things like current symptoms, stressors, tolerance for managing difficult emotions and memories, and treatment frequency can all influence how long you may spend in EMDR Therapy.

Generally, people see results from EMDR Therapy after anywhere from 6-12 sessions. Some people may experience relief sooner, after fewer sessions.
